Using The Canterbury Tales as a stimulus we had to design costumes for 6 characters from the different stories. I carried out research and created mood boards for each character in order to narrow down which ones I felt I had the most interesting ideas for. We looked a lot into medieval fashion and I decided to use some of that to inspire a few of my designs to look more in keeping with the time period, rather than contemporary. I discovered that making 1:25 scale models of each character and then physically creating costumes on them really helped me with the design process, I found visualising them in 3D before completing my final designs on paper a fun and much easier process than just sticking to 2D mediums.
