In Term 1 we had to work in groups to design, make and operate a Bunraku style puppet and develop a performance. In making the puppet I learned how to use a band saw and how to carve styrofoam using rasps, files, knives and hot wire. We had to consider movement and how best to convey the emotions we wanted to through the puppet. The whole process of making the puppet lead us to wonder how it would react to suddenly being brought to life, we decided that is what we wanted to base our performance on, the puppet's discovery of the world and awareness of it's self.
